Those who require long term housing, assistance and nursing are entitled to the Aid and Attendance Benefit.

This will pay a portion of the required assisted living, whether it is in home nursing, a residential home or a full-service nursing home. Widowed spouses are also entitled to these same benefits, provided they have not remarried.This benefit is called the Improved Death Pension. There are fourteen Newport News Virginia assisted living facilities that the city’s veterans can move into. These are all state accredited and ready to accept veterans.
