Assisted Living Cost

Assisted Living rates are usually all inclusive. This means that the monthly rate typically covers all meals, utilities, activities, and care. Additional fees may apply depending on the level of service required, this varies by facility. There are also usually several apartment layouts and sizes to choose from with varying pricing. Many people experience sticker shock when they find out how much assisted living costs before they take into account everything that is included and the actual cost of remaining at home.

The national average cost of assisted living for a single resident is approximately $3,200 a month. Cost of assisted living does vary widely with some communities as low as $1,000 per month and other “luxury communities” as high as $7,000 per month. It is typical that housing generally costs more in urban areas and assisted living is no different.

It is important to note that Medicare and Medicaid usually do not pay for assisted living which is almost entirely funded out of pocket.
